My Kerala

Look at our wonderful Kerala. Once a totally agriculture oriented state. Now we totally depend on other states for everything, say vegetables, grains surprisingly even for coconut too. Funniest thing is that even we depend other states for labour also. A state which has very high person to land ratio than any other state, now depending others for both skilled and unskilled labour. Keralites work only outside Kerala. Daily we can see many fellows in different coloured clothes such as Blue(INTUC) and red (CITU) and many other, all waiting to see some prey. The moment some truck comes with some load they all pounce on it. Just to off load the truck they will demand anything they feel like. Recently there was a case where the trucker did not load the items as the demanded money was more than the cost of the items. You can offload the items yourself, that is the rule, but once things are offloaded you got to pay them 'Nokkukooli'-- which is for standing there and watching you offloading things. One thing which is not scares in Kerala is politicians, that is plenty. Even the parties too. If it goes this way we will have one political party for 100 people or so in a few years time. Imagine everyone fighting to become a minister. There may be 1000 or 10000 ministers too. Or it could be on a rotation basis. You occupy it for 10 days the next day I occupy the chair. Yes it is truly democratic. After all these people are not doing anything great, any one can do what they do -- of course a not all. Certain jobs are very skilled ones-- only actual politicians can do!

H1N1

I think the H1N1 story is very hyped. Yes it is true that it is there. But the way we handled it was a bit too much. Media starving for some new news were very eager to get on with it. There was shortage of medicine and testing facilities. had the Govt not taken steps such as keeping private hospitals, there would have been plenty of cheating and torturing around.

Introduction

Friends,
This is my first blog. I thought I will just share my feelings and thoughts with others. let me introduce myself. I am an engineer, presently working with the Central Govt, India. I started dreaming when I was a child, and still dream a lot. I do fantasise about going on space trip and becoming the first man to land on Mars, Captaining the Indian cricket team playing and winning test series against the Australians in Australia, Inventing a time machine so that I can go ahead and see what happens after 100 years, Finding medicines to fight AIDS and other dangerous diseases........ My list and dreams seems to be endless. I am married and have two children, aged 10 and 8 years. My wife is master graduate and not working presently as I am in such a job that I get transferred every 2-3 years.

I spent my childhood in a kerala village, doing all schooling in a Govt school--which people these days call as 'Chanda school' meaning market school. I don't think that I would have become a great personality, had I been studying in doon school or so. My school has helped me in shaping my thoughts and personality. If I get more time, I intend sharing all these with you. But my primary focus will remain on the daily issues that is happening around.
